Clayton Faulkner is a disciple, husband, father, and pastor living in the Houston, TX area. ClaytonFaulkner.com is a random junk drawer of his thoughts and learnings on liturgy, worship, the Bible, church, theology, faith, music and whatever else he finds interesting.

Clayton has professionally served churches in worship ministry for over 20 years. He has served in a variety of denominations at churches all across Texas. For the last 11 years he has been the Director of Worship, Music, and Technology at Faith Lutheran Church in Bellaire, TX.

Clayton holds a Bachelor of Music Education from Southwest Texas State University (San Marcos, TX), a Master of Arts in Worship from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (Fort Worth, TX), and a Doctor of Worship Studies from the Robert E. Webber Institute for Worship Studies (Orange Park, FL). He is currently waiting for his first call as a pastor in the ELCA after completing a Master of Divinity from Wartburg Theological Seminary (Dubuque, IA).

Clayton is editor for CrossAccent: The Journal of the Association of Lutheran Church Musicians. He is the co-creator of the TUNE UP worship band gathering, a training event for worship musicians in Houston. He was a contributing author for Can We Talk? Engaging Worship and Culture (2016). He has written several FAQ articles for the ELCA’s worship page. He was the visual curator and creator of video backdrops for The Church’s Journey in Art and Song (2015 Worship Jubilee) and the 2016 and 2019 Churchwide Assemblies. He is a member of The Hymn Society and the Association of Lutheran Church Musicians.

Clayton is married to Kate and they have two kids, Deacon and Masamo, both adopted from Ethiopia. Clayton enjoys collecting vinyl, watching movies, and reading.
